One of our users who is using CodeRush and was experiencing problems with VA was able to solve the problem by uninstalling "Win7 Taskbar Extension". We aren't aware of any compatibility problems between the two plug-ins, but if disabling solves the problem I will try reproducing it here. I tried your suggestions and the problem is the same!Ĭan you please try disabling DevExpress just temporarily in the Extension Manager to see if it makes any difference? I'll try your suggestion I let you know the result.

Do you use any other Visual Studio extensions?Īdditional Visual studio extension that I've separately installed are DevExpress only. Try rebuilding your symbol databases VA Options -> Performance -> Rebuild Disable VA Options -> Fonts and Colors -> Text Editors (checkbox)
VISUAL ASSIST VISUAL STUDIO UPGRADE
You will get a 7 day trial after the upgrade (if your license doesn't cover the latest build) so you can try it out and you can also go back to the old version if you decide to do so. Sorry to hear that, it should not happen.įirst of all, can you please try upgrading to the latest build of Visual Assist just to see if it helps? 0 built 2013.9.20) in visual studio 2012 with a solution of 9 projects.įor c++ projects it works fine, however for c# projects visual studio gets very slow and scrolling down becomes very glitchy(slow).Īs soon as I disable visual assist visual studio becomes normal.

VISUAL ASSIST VISUAL STUDIO SOFTWARE
Ultimately it will outdo VS because it helps identify Unreal specific problems early, while VS is just doing what it can in a general way.Whole Tomato Software Forums - Slow Speed It shows the tool is trying to understand the unreal reflection system and that is nicer than red swiggles in VS, and I am sure will only get better. It also understands when I don't have a BlueprintNativeImplementable native implementation. Oh, I also like how it shows me which blueprints are overriding variables, that is pretty nice. Anyway, been using Rider for 2 weeks now so the jury is still out but so far if they keep improving this I will gladly pay the 100 a year or whatever for it. It was quicker on resolving variable values than I remember VS being of late. I've done some minor debugging with it and it seems fine.
VISUAL ASSIST VISUAL STUDIO CODE
I was sick of having visual studio 2017 lock up completely for minutes (sometimes never coming back) with visual assist so I tried Rider and was blown away by how much better it was for writing code and staying stable while doing so. So why give that up and switch to a platform that isn't even free, likely still has build system integration issues because it is so new, and still end up with a shitty debugger. It's not even that the VS debugger is so great, it's more that every other IDE integrated C or C++ debugger out there is absolutely terrible. The thing about Visual studio is that it has by far the best debugger out there for native code. Things like, often losing focus when typing in the watch window, not being able to copy and paste certain debugger fields, no toggle between hex and decimal in the watch window, the watch window only has one column so no easy copy and paste of values vs name, no disassembler, etc. In the IntelliJ debugger, there are also a large number of small little UI quirks and bugs that kill productivity.
VISUAL ASSIST VISUAL STUDIO ANDROID
To view memory in android studio you have to print out the variables as an int or char array, it is lacking features that terminal-based debuggers had over 30 years ago! It's clear that the people who wrote this software must never actually program in C or C++. I don't know if Rider is the same, but the android studio debugger doesn't even have a fucking memory viewer.

Ok, I went and looked at Rider for the first time, and realized this is the same platform that Android Studio is based on.
